Just in case you are wondering...
I've been busy playing on blurb.com's booksmart software. I have a 300 page blog book thus far... ridiculously awesome, I tell you what. This is such a fun project. I love this stuff. Now if I could get the cool sprapbooking software that everyone is talking about, I would be set.
I am so distracted
So I should be writing a birthday letter for Liam right now. So what am I doing instead? Checking and reading other people's blogs of course. Sorting old emails and old blog comments to see who I haven't visited lately.
I kept on coming across Allysun's emails, so I gave her a call and we chatted for awhile. She is in the middle of packing and moving. I wish I were there to lend a hand. So instead of helping her out, I distracted her away from her work and we chatted for a long time. You know, about how I am procrastinating writing Liam's letter and how cool it's going to be for Allysun to own her own place and be in a cool little town up north, etc.
We got on the subject of photo books somehow and she mentioned blurb.com. I had heard about this site a few weeks ago, but when trying to log onto the site I realized it must be pretty dang popular. I could NOT get the site to load. at. all. But when I was on the phone with my friend... magic happened and I was able to get it to work.
I downloaded the application.
I am so excited!
This program transfers your blog into a book form!!!!!!
Did you hear me?
I don't have to wait until later to publish Liam's life history. There is a simple and frugal way to do it now!
Now!
Much excitement is happening over here! Much joy in my heart! Yay for modern day computer advancements!

Thoughts on IKEA
I mentioned here that I went to IKEA for the first time. I was mesmerized by the whole experience. I dreamed in IKEA-store-format for over a week after my visit there. I really wanted to go back.
I was excited about this rug, the $35 price tag and it's future function in our family room.
Fast forward to yesterday when I rolled out the red little round area rug for the first time. (Mom left the guest quarters and we now have a playroom again, with a rug to play on now mind you.)
Be warned... DO NOT BUY WOOL RUGS FROM IKEA! Your whole house will be covered in the dander of it. Imagine red fibers all over the place, worse than the fluffiest cat shedding! It's horrible. I would take it back and get my $35, but my cats have taken a liking to the back side of it (while it was stored rolled up under Mom's pull-out bed) and the underside looks, well, cat scratched.
So I wonder... how is this rug held together? Did they glue it? Was it fastened in any way? My Dyson about choked on this rug! I am serious! I think about half the fibers fed my Dyson...
Anyway, this whole rug thing is bugging me to no end. What can I trust at IKEA? Is there quality in anything there? Will I be just as disappointed if I spend more than $10 on something? Maybe I should just steer clear of their textile types of products. Because we all know plastic accessory stuff under 10 bucks is okay to fall apart later... we wouldn't have lost much.

8 things meme
Tarrie and David tagged me for this little meme. Tarrie is not narcissistic like she says. Even if she is a tiny bit, I am more so than she is.
The Rules: Players start with 8 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts. Players should tag a few other people and notify them they have been tagged.
1. I can remember birthdays and phone numbers very easily. I don't know why, I just know I can. I still remember some of my friends' numbers from high school.
2. I have to mirror Tarrie's #2 here... "Half of the time I envy people who "LOVE to exercise." The other half of the time I don't believe them. I mean, I know that you feel good after you exercise and your dopamine levels go up or whatever and thats nice. But who really LOVES to run? I just don't get it."
3. (...And with #2 being said) I hate being wet. And as a result of this, I hate doing dishes, sweating, washing the car or getting caught in the rain. The only reason I can tolerate showering is because it's hot and soothing in the process. Getting out of the shower is another story. Same with swimming... refreshing in the process, but getting out is the pits.
4. I don't enjoy watching a movie more than once. Maybe years later could watch it again. I have found that , like Tommy Boy, I can watch Hitch over and over and not be bothered by it though... it's just that good, in my opinion.
5. I think new-age scrapbooking is, um, a waste of time. I mean the frilly, one-picture-per-page kind of scrapbooking. The kind of scrapbooking that cost way too much money and way too much of your time. Since I found blogging, I think scrapbooking is for the birds. I will have Liam's blog posts published later and each book will be a one year period. I think my son will value my words much more than decals, stickers and special striped or polka-dotted paper. (Those of you with girls, keep scrapbooking... I am SURE they will appreciate it!)
6. Daytime television makes me ill (except for Ellen of course). If I have a day off, I hate to turn the television on in the day time. Saturdays and Sundays are okay... it's the daily soap operas, game shows, court shows and talk shows that make me feel yuck when I hear or see them.
7. I have what I describe as Audio claustrophobia. I can't handle more than 1 or 2 sounds at one time. When I am home alone and watching TV, I mute it on commercials. If I am home alone, I rarely turn on the TV or radio as silence is my sound of choice. I rarely have music going in the car either. I found I couldn't think straight when we had friends over with their 2 year old chattering, us conversing and me trying to get my crying baby latched on to feed. I had to leave the room to feed him.
8. Liam is my one and only offspring and that is still the long-term plan. If I could have more kids, I would want all boys.
I tag a few old friends that just started blogs... we all need to get to know Daisy (a childhood friend) Jessica (Daisy's sister and good friend) and Michelle (my former manager).

Toddler Sanity
I know I am not alone in the toddler insanity these days. I thought you girls would like this list of ideas to keep things rolling more smoothly in your life with a toddler. CLICK HERE for the article.
I liked this last quote:
"If you're a stay-at-home mom or dad, the main point to remember is that you're staying home to raise children and spend quality time with them, not to have the perfect house. With toddlers, a perfect house is an oxymoron!"

Retarded Marketing
I am a sucker for Dove chocolate… especially the dark variety. The only thing that bugs me about it is the “promise” inside each wrapper.
Once upon a time the promises weren’t so corny, but these days I have found messages like “Whisper in the dark” and “Discover yourself”… yeah, who in the Dove marketing department thought those were good ideas? And those are the only two I can remember. There were so many worse than that. Next time I will keep all the wrappers so I can report how hokey each one is. Who wouldn't want a little "promise" commentary?

Mother's Day Out
I met Katie and Josh at IKEA at noon today and then not long after, Adam and Kik met up with us. It was so fun to go throughout the store and keep throwing such low-priced items in our cart! I was in heaven... no baby, no time limit... and wide open spaces FULL of anything I could want for my home! We had a great time! Can you tell I've never been to IKEA before? I am happy we finally got one. I have been shopping their catalog for a year now and there isn't much available online.
After our shopping spree at IKEA, we went out for lunch at Pei Wei. I had never been there, but it's basically a fast version of P.F. Chang's. It was WONDERFUL! The food was great, the company very refreshing and of course no baby to entertain! It felt so nice and relaxed. I am so glad I could meet up with my friends and enjoy some time away.

I'm officially in the club
Yep, so the other day I found the lever (on my Kenmore vacuum) to make it extend/bend was broken completely off. Sure, it still works, if you jam your big toe into the space the lever used to be, but I found myself thinking greedy thoughts. I thought this is my time. This is the excuse I've needed for so long. Yep, I am going to tell Ian that a Dyson is completely needed in our home. It's just GOT to be the best excuse to join the Dyson club.
A couple days later we found this on Woot.com... a website we check once a day every day:

Thanks Woot for reading my mind.
Yeah, my husband bought it for me. I love him.
Sweet SWEET SWEET!

Photos Worthy of a Tabloid
While in California over Memorial Day weekend, my friend, D and I were snapping photos of each other and of our kiddos pretty much the whole time. In our quest to have an endless supply of fun photos, we also tapped into the most unflattering shots of each other.
Get a load of these... Gosh, we should be celebrities... we look THAT bad!
