I thought this was a really cool DVD release. I have not seen any publicity on this. I do hope new moms and prospective moms get their hands on it. They should hand these out at the first pre-natal appointment.

Saw this via netflix a couple of months ago. It's awesome!!! I'm not a full supporter of home births, but I do think a woman should go to the hospital able to have the kind of birth SHE desires and be fully educated about it. Don't get me started... :)

I've seen quite a bit of publicity - but mostly on mom blogs and some of the podcast to which I subscribe.

I haven't seen it yet, and don't know if I'll get the chance (we don't do netflix or rent videos much anymore), but I've heard a lot about it.

Pros - shows that women do have options, and should be educated about those options.

Cons - from what I've heard, it hypes the home-birthing quite a bit, and may make health professionals and clinics/hospitals look like they are corrupt, or lacking concern for what is best for the patient.

Like I said, I haven't seen it, though. I've only read several summaries and talked to others that have seen it.

As I work in the health field, I may have a different perspective on things - although I do believe all women should be educated and involved in their birthing choices.

Thank you for that! I haven't heard anything about that and I really enjoyed it.

I had a not so good experience with having Cameryn with doctors. They told me at my last appointment that I would probably have to have a C-section because I wasnt' dialated at all yet. They scared me so bad. Then when I got to the hospital they said that I had to lay down and couldn't walk around which is what I wanted to do. My contractions were not even that bad yet but they got worse once I had to lay on my back. It goes on and on like that. The only thing good was my nurse, I loved her. The doctor wasn't too bad but I did yell as him when he told me he was going to give me an episitomy. I yelled NOOOOOO!!

Anyways, my birth with Luke was much much much better having a mid wife and options. It went faster and was much better. I was still in a hospital too. I'm not into home births either, I enjoy my stay in hospitals too much (what's not to like, food brought to you, people take care of your baby so you can rest and all you have to do is feed the baby!!)

I reccomend midwives to everyone but still most of them go for doctors because of all the horror stories that people tell them that they have to have a doctor.

Sorry for the long comment but this is a subject that I have a very strong opinion about and my mom and I talk about it alot.

I'd never seen that clip either, but we do have Netflix so I should check it out. It's kind of scary to think about, really.

Based on your recommendation, David and I watched this film last night on Netflix. I found it very informative and I am glad I saw it before I have this baby. What I find horrible is the high numbers of C-Sections in some hospitals. I have had people tell me, "Oh, don't have your baby at the medical hospital. They have a 50% C-Section rate."
