Not much to report

I got a blog comment this morning saying that I make everyone else look bad with all the outings and involvement we enjoy with Liam. That it might be time for me to have more kids.

I know she was kidding as she knows our situation, though I still wonder if people think we are selfish for only having one kid.

The stuff we do with Liam on the weekends and in the evenings is compensation for all the time we've lost with Liam. We don't get to do fun stuff during the week, during the day. And all winter long, our child couldn't even enjoy the outdoors because we don't get home until it's dark. The poor kid is finally getting a few moments outdoors this past week because dusk is coming later.

Remember, I don't need validation in writing this post... I just wanted to vent and this is my safe place to do it.

I don't think I'll have any regrets for only having one child. This plan is working for us. Prior to having Liam we wanted 4. But soon after he was born, we knew we were done. I don't understand the perspective of baby hungry-ness after doing it once already. I am fine with doing it once and savoring every bit of it. That is enough for me, for us. Sadly Liam doesn't get a say in it, but he'll turn out just fine without siblings, I hope.

Isn't it funny how even when people know your situation and you've made it very clear how you feel about things, that they would still make such comments. Liam will be fine, he has two parents that have all the love in the world for him. What a lucky kid.

I never thought you were making us look bad for not doing fun stuff like that with our kids...you are always a constant reminder to me that I need to have more fun with my kids (if I have one or 3)

So many of us get so homebound...we are pathetic like that! We get stuck in the rut of watching tv and being couch potatoes!

If you are selfish, than so are we, so I'm here for you.

I don't think Liam is spoiled in the time he spends with you. It sounds like you have very set structures for him and you just took a day to have fun. My parents did that with us (and there were three of us). They worked during the week, we had homework and chores, but on weekends we would run errands and they would usually find a way to squeeze one or two really fun activities in between the things we had to get done.

You're not taking him to Disney or Six Flags every weekend. You're taking him to a park, out with friends, to an aquarium in the area and out to eat. These are low-cost, easy ways to get out and enjoy life.

You are fine and I appreciate that you do such a great job of documenting Liam's life. I need to continue to improve documenting Little Dude's moments, and some of your posts are great prompts/ideas for me, so I can spin off of them.

Love ya! You aren't selfish! (And I don't even know your complete situation, and I'm saying that!)

How many children you have is a very personal choice. I get the opposite- "Hey, don't you know what causes that??"

I think you've made a wise choice. I wish that I COULD have another kid, but I guess I need a husband first.
